Christmas Tree Up Monday....

Today the good old Christmas tree went up. I pretty much just get the stuff out and let the kids put on the stuff. I like the older they get the more thought goes into it. This year it was only R.A. and R.E. Decided not to wait on the oldest one, what with classes, work, and a social life, she is never here during the day. We also put out all the other little things.

The doll above is one of the things we put out. Our neighbor made her years ago for R.A. when she was really really little. We always thought she looked liked the doll from Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer TV special. You know, the one that lives on the island of misfit toys.

Nothing much got done around here this weekend. Was mostly providing transportation to all. R.A. volunteered to work at the Joy to the Mall function at our church. It is an afternoon where you drop off your kids and they make Christmas presents while you go shop. She had very nice time and was thrilled to just do face painting this year instead of a craft. R.L. was there cleaning up all the messes left behind. What good girls they are.

Sunday had to take R.A. and R.L. to the Sacramento Comic Toy and Anime convention. They had some Christmas shopping to do for each other. R.A. does enjoy her anime and manga. We did not stay long this time. Was fun watching R.E. thinking and talking with vendors so he could get the most for his money. I bought R.A. a couple of things for Christmas while there, mostly stocking stuff. Didn't really find anything for the boy. Chatted with a couple of vendors and had a nice time. It is funny how these vendors all seem to remember my girls. Did find out that some of the Japanese items I was interested in are just so expensive to import that is why the one vender just doesn't do it. Will have to stick with ordering off the internet.

Today was book/magazine day. I really need to figure why my scanning is coming out as jpeg files. Will see if Mr. V can help me so I can post nice pictures.

Yes, everyone in my house is a little old for this new book. But, it was done by Tomie DePaola one of our favorites. It is a pretty cute story. Will add it to the Christmas book pile. It is called
Get Dressed Santa.

This is the current issue of Knit n Style magazine. There are really nice articles this time and an interesting one on shawl pins.

This book is one R.A. is very interested in. I will be reading through it tonight. Mr. V has a new specialist dude to see tomorrow, so can take it with me to finish up. The book is called
Make Your Own Patterns by Rene Bergh.

There has been some basic questions lately around here and I thought this basic book would be helpful so the girls or their friends could just look questions up. It is called Your Guide to Creativity and is put out by Jo Ann's. If you live near a Jo Ann's it is a great deal to get this book using one of the 40% off coupons that come in the mail or paper.

And lastly is this little booklet. I have been enjoying working with the cotton yarn this year. And this booklet seemed have some pretty good uses for it. I know there are a lot of people out there that don't like cotton yarn because it does not stretch. But, I really kind of like the stiffness of it. If you click on the link you will see the rest of the items inside the booklet.

I am hoping that by the end of the week I will get to post some pictures of something I have made during the week. But, right now that time is limited with Mr. V down. But, there is this site that has some pretty cute handmade things on it that I saw this morning before my driving duties started. It was on Cuteable and the web-site Blubluberries has many nice things on it. Enjoy.

Guess what is playing on my television right now? Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and he is currently on the Island of Misfit toys! I agree this dolly is remarkably similar, but at least this one has a home.
